Foods of Europe was established in 1987 by Miles and Susan Vaughan; initially aimed at supplying speciality foods to the U.K. from mainland Europe, the model changed in 1987 when Miles visited Hong Kong and recognised the potential for exporting British Food to the Far East. Following initial shipments of Muller Yogurts and Kool Fromage Frais the business started to grow rapidly. Supermarkets quickly realised the potentail for British products in their markets and were soon expanding the rages bought. The rest, as they say, is history.
In 2003, the business was taken over by Stephen and Lorraine Winterhalder. Stephen had been Buying and Marketing Director of Park n Shop in Hong Kong and had worked closely with Miles over a number of years. Foods of Europe has helped Park n Shop offer the best range of U.K products in Hong Kong, as such Stephen knew all about the potential growth opportunities that existed for this type of business. He set about reinforcing the Foods of Europe proposition:
“one stop shop of a huge range of British product delivered little and often, on a just in time basis so as to ensure a comprehensive and differentiated offer.”
This continues to be our objective today with all our customers. Over recent years the business has continued to expand in many different markets. Cold Storage in Singapore and Malaysia have seen massive growth and, more recently, Topps in Thailand have expanded their British ranges significantly.
